About the Ganit Ratna Award
Instituted by Professor Thakare Gaurav Sanstha (PTGS), the Ganit Ratna Award is a national honour that celebrates India’s living mathematical legacy. It is awarded annually to an Indian citizen whose research reflects not only originality and depth, but also a commitment to intellectual integrity.
At its heart, the Ganit Ratna Award is more than a recognition—it is a tribute to the spirit of discovery. It honours those who ask bold questions, explore complex ideas, and leave behind work that meaningfully advances the frontiers of mathematics.
Each year, the award is conferred upon one outstanding individual, following a rigorous and confidential selection process led by senior mathematicians from India and abroad. This selectivity ensures that the award remains deeply prestigious and rooted in merit.
- ₹ 1,11,000/- cash prize
- A commemorative plaque
- A formal citation
The Plaque – Meaning in Every Element
The Ganit Ratna Plaque is not just a token of honour—it is a carefully designed symbol of mathematical tradition and the values that define great scholarship.
Note the presence of Mobius strips, Zero, Infinity & Diamond in the design of plaque.
From its geometry to its inscriptions, each element of the plaque carries meaning. It tells a story—not only of the awardee’s brilliance but of the timeless connection between mathematics, culture, and philosophy.
