- The Ganit Ratna Award was instituted in honour of Prof. Ratan Prakash Agarwal—a visionary academician, devoted educator, and passionate advocate of mathematical excellence.
- Prof. Agarwal was much more than a scholar; he was a mentor whose influence extended far beyond the classroom. Deeply committed to nurturing mathematical thinking among young minds, he believed that education, when grounded in values and inquiry, has the power to transform lives and reshape society.
- His scholarly contributions were both profound and far-reaching. Among them, his acclaimed work “Resonance of Ramanujan’s Mathematics” (Volumes 1, 2 & 3) stands as a testament to his enduring fascination with the genius of Srinivasa Ramanujan, and his lifelong commitment to preserving and amplifying India’s mathematical legacy.

About Ganit Ratna Award
Instituted by Professor Thakare Gaurav Sanstha (PTGS), the Ganit Ratna Award is a national honour conferred annually upon a Indian citizen for his/her original contributions to the area of mathematics. The award consists of:
- ₹ 1,11,000 cash prize
- A commemorative plaque
- A citation
